SciFi and Fantasy Art: Contemplation of her Troubles

Her husband off dealing with trouble in the forest, Joy is left alone in the elven city, a place she was too young to remember when she left, contemplating the sword which inevitablly has brought her here. She is faced with the task of clearing her family name before a council not known for their compassion, making an ally out of the man who killed her father, mother and older brother and once sought her life as well, or facing the death to which all her family was put before her. Trouble is, she cannot lie, not even about what she is, and she knows for fact that more than half the ideas for which her father was executed are true. The trick will be to come out of this alive without the council forcing her to remain within the city as their leader. For these elves value 3 kinds of people above all things: Seers, Blade singers, and magic weilders. To be even one of these sets one above one's caste. Joy is all three. Add to this that her new husband was out facing a great danger to the wood which neither of them had a face to alone and without her sword to back him and you have one stressed out elf!

this came about as a challenge for some facial emotion. Max, I did my best. THe model was a bit cranky! Poser, no postwork. Dang it!! I'm going to have to write this one one of these days!

Wow I get to make a first comment. I feel that your artwork is improving a lot. You are a very talented artist. If there is a story to go along with it, please, by all means write. The emotion on her face is amazing. You can feel her depression. As always a work well done. I like it a lot.

:-) Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "thank you. one day there will be, but it has not yet run its course. I am not ready to write it yet. (I really need to put down the mouse and start writing again!!!)"

I have to agree with my favorite shy commentor, this is wonderful! id love to hear the story, in due time, of course. very nice!

:-) Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "It is getting more tempting by the week, let me tell you. But would I get lynched for stopping Eyes of Destiny?"

wow. This is a great picture. Filled with emotion.
Whats the story behind the flower?
This has got to be one of your best that you've posted.

:-) Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "thank you. I did so try. Joy is a Sister of the Rose. One of thier special things is to safeguard a single flower. Its kind of like a holy symbol. They have the gift that as long as the bloom is not off her person for more than a day it will never die. That particular bloom she picked in a garden in the middle of the desert that was guarded by a druid behir"

So beautiful, and such a perfect "weight of the world on my shoulders" feeling in the pose and epression! The designs on her hand and face -- are beautiful and must have have taken a lot of time and effort. Do you have an idea of how they were applied? Looks like henna to me.

:-) Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "lol. Thank you! Yes, that texture took a lot of time and rework. It is henna. I took a photo of a henna tattoo and used the eyedropper tool in PS6 to choose the colors, then applied the design I wanted on the skin texture before applying it to the model. And yes, the character discovered and fell in love with henna."
