SciFi and Fantasy Art: Golden Flight''Mother!,' he called, 'Come! Fly with me!' The Queen only laughed. The Elven sorceress/Queen of Dragonlade was content to watch as her 'son', the great golden dragon Runedar, spread his wings and played with the wind currents off the cliffs of their new home. The palace was build from alabaster quarried nearby, but even it could not match the gleam of the sun off his scales. Chartra had cared for him since before he was hatched, mentally bonding with him and teaching him as a dragon mother would, as his real mother would have if Chartra had been able to save her life. Nearby, her familiar wanted to see, but not badly enough to jump to the railing and risk being blown off it by the dragon childe's play. Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "Thank you, I was beginning to think no one liked this one. It was slated to come down when I need room, cause it went up early and never got commented on. i don't do dragons well and I was proud of this guy"
| 17 Feb 2003 | Imoen Flightfoot | Ooh, dragons are very hard to do. Im afraid of one crashing in my window and roasting me if i dont please it, doing a dragon an injustice in a picture seems suicidle to me, lol. Very well done. Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "lol thanks. I'm a little hesitant to post my failures if you know what I mean. But... my failure may very well be someone else's treasure" | |
| 18 Feb 2003 | Kathryn E. Raynor | Like the chin scales and the fact that you depicted it from a not usually depicted angle! Very awesome pic, thanks for the comment on my fan page. Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "thank you. I did take a lot of time with him. I got lucky. The ink I used to draw the scales was not waterproof and when I laid the watercolor down it ran brownish and provided me with perfect shading!" | |
| 24 Mar 2003 | Sarah Colley | How did I miss this one? LOL I really like it! He has such a personality, and thats a great little story to go with it Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "One day I will finish writing the 'Tears of the Dragon' (provided I can find the original chapters with some really cool scene with the fairies.)And as to overlooked, it seems a lot in my gallery gets overlooked" | |
| 8 Jun 2003 | Meghan Jenkins | Dragon! It is so pretty, the coloring looks awesome with the dragon. Also I like the angle that it was drawn at. The stories accompanying your drawings are wonderful as well! Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "Why thank you. ONe of my very few successful attempts at a dragon. If you like the mini stories though, I do have a Library page full of neat ones, or so I've been told. Though watch out, I've also been told they're addictive. (Lots of vampire stories)" | |
| 24 Aug 2003 | Elyzabeth Smith | Wow..Such a beautiful dragon!! Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "thank you. It is the only time I've ever sucessfully (in my opinion) drawn a dragon.
I notice your email addy is "daughter of Mars". If that is as in the Roman God, you might want to hop over to my wyvern site and take a gander at Love in Ruins. It's chock full of Roman refs! including a blessing or two by Mars!"
| 8 Sep 2003 | ME | Hello again awesome picture i think all your artworks fantastic. I love the dragon it looks so nice =)+< Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "thanks." | |
| 18 Nov 2004 | Donna Quinn | if this was your first successful dragon, then you should definitely do more! I think you should have a good look at wing anatomy, maybe look at some bat pics, to help with other dragons. The colours are gorgeous and just so bright and sunny. The perspective is great too, and it's well-executed. Nice job overall! Sandra Leigh Wagner replies: "wow, thanks. But Runedar was a fluke. I've tried since to no sucesss." | |
